NICKY'S FIRST TRIP TO THE VET HOSPITAL

THIS POST IS MAINLY FOR MY READERS ON BORDERBOYS BUT OTHERS THAT POP BY HERE ARE WELCOME TO HELP OUT IF THEY ARE SO INCLINED.

It's been a while since I posted here but since the regular sites are down today for maintenance I thought I would talk about my kitty Nicky since you cannot access the Saturday Borderboys post today.

Nicky was born over 3 years ago literally between my legs and he has been a very important part of our family from the day he was born.

Last week he started dropping weight fast and his right kidney was obviously swelling by the weekend. Clearly he has a blockage or something wrong with the kidney(s).

This morning we are heading to the vet. It will be his first time traveling away from home and visiting a vet's office for a medical problem.

On the Saturday post and on my Facebook page, I mentioned that there are some feline helping organizations that may help us cover the vet bill.

Meanwhile I return to the doctor myself on Thursday and it is medicine renewal time- those of you that have to take meds in the United States know how costly that is.

On top of that we have experienced some site issues at Borderboys so I haven't been able to consistently post- this has cut down on the income that is sorely needed since my partner's seasonal job (he is also on disability and can only work part of the year) ended when the San Diego Padres season ended at the beginning of October.

We do have Roxy Red still staying with us and Roxy and Nicky have a mutual love for each other. Roxy has a few upcoming shoots scheduled to generate more income but that is week's away.

So the problem is this- I would rather die myself then let our kitty suffer and perhaps lose a kidney if this is not treated but it is going to put an awful financial strain on us. Regular readers know that I have been battling with health issues myself and have been trying to make payments on a hospital stay back in July.

So, once again, I am asking my readers to consider visiting the donation page, located here, and make whatever donation you can. I have a lot of readers daily but since Saturday- and quite frankly since last May there has not been a single donation given for the work I do.

If just ten of you make a $10 donation each that will cover some of the expense of today...no one has bothered to respond or offer (even my partner's family) to take us to the vet so we may have to take a taxi which will be around $30 even before we get into the vet's office.

I will try to get some pics up of me and Nicky at the vet today so no one thinks we are trying to scam you all.

My baby really is sick and I have to take him.

Sadly we are sacrificing this week's food money and money that was suppose to be used to get my medicine to take care of Nicky who obviously cannot get himself to the vet.

GLENN'S GREEN LOVE LUBE

Before anyone (Google) assumes that i am violating the god damn terms of service here and making money off of this "adult"product- I AM NOT...I just think it is a neat concept and was surprised to see who is behind it.

First let's start with the product.

Obviously it is called GREEN LOVE LUBE it is completely different in makeup from any other lube I have seen on the market.

The description of the product says:

"Green Love lube and Edible EAT ME lube are aloe vera based personal lubricants available in airplane friendly recycled milk containers. The aloe based formula is enriched with Vitamin E to increase velocity while reducing friction. Simply, its the high performing lubrication that reduces dryness and increases lubrication during sexual play when applied liberally.
The Jungle scent is a combination of the natural aloe vera's naked aroma with hints of vanilla and lavender.
"

I like the ingredients in this product and the price- just $12.95!

As many of you know the price of most water-based lubes is through the roof. Some brands, for the "family size" bottle charge in excess of $60 or more here in the states.

So I was not only impressed with the chemical makeup of the product but the economical price as well...I am going to order some and give it a try (maybe I will give some to Roxy Red and let him try it out and report back).

I came across this product after
stumbling on an interview with 1980's teen star from the show "One Day At A Time"- of course that would be Glenn Scarpelli.

In the two-part interview from 2010, part one located here and part two located here, he talks about the product and the fact that he too was an industry closeted gay teen at the time the show was on the air. Glenn runs a local television station in Sedona, Arizona called the Sedona Now Network...here is his bio from that site:

"Glenn Scarpelli has been in the entertainment business for 30 years. He got his start at age 8 as an actor debuting on broadway in “Golda” staring Anne Bancroft. His next broadway stint was with Al Pacino in “Richard lll”.

Feature films included Peter Bogdonavich’s “They All Laughed” where Glenn played Audrey Hepburn’s son, co-starring John Ritter.

During these times, he also played the regular role of Alex on the hit CBS sitcom “One Day at a Time” starring Bonnie Franklin and Valerie Bertinelli.

At age 18 Glenn went to NYU film school to learn the operations of film making. He then went on to become president of GKS Entertainment, an LA based digital mastering and editing facility. Clients included MCA, Dreamworks and RCA. Introspectively, Glenn has been visiting Sedona as a refuge for years and made the move to Sedona to create positive programming on the Sedona NOW Network with partner Jude Belanger."

Admittedly I really hadn't thought about Glenn until recently when I was having a discussion with my partner about some of our favorite TV shows of the mid-70's and 80's. I had two crushes back then....Philip Mckeon who was on the series "Alice" - who I believe is straight and Glenn Scarpelli...I told you all before I had a thing for Italian boys even when I was a biy myself. Glenn is three years my junior and even back then my gaydar was telling me he was as gay as i was.

I actually found this picture on Google...I remember having that picture out of, I believe, my sister's copy of Teen Beat Magazine! As he got older he really was a hot twink!

The interview I read is pretty interesting and I can understand why he didn't come out during the time he was on the show and why he seemed to disappear after the show ended in the mid 80's.

In the interview he said, "No, I was totally in the closet still. In fact, I stayed as far away from that as possible. But I got my privacy.

I lived in Manhattan; I actually fell in love with someone and we moved in together—and of course, in those days we were “roommates,” you know…

When everybody knows your every move—I mean, today, it’s worse.

My God, with the way the media is. People who are famous today, it’s so, so tough. Everybody knows everybody’s little move.

But in those days, for me it was… stay the hell away.

I wanted to someday walk into a gay club, or a gay bar, and if I did, it would be known. And I did not want that. It was more about my privacy, that was driving me crazy.

I loved the business, I loved acting—I still do, but what you have to put up with — it’s part of the job.

If you’re going to be famous, you’re not going to have privacy, period.

And if you don’t like it, don’t be famous. And that’s when I got realistic and said, “Okay, I don’t want to be famous!

I think it is a shame that even today a gay teen actor has to hide behind skirts to get work or at least keep popular in the mainstream...I bet Glenn would agree that it is sad that things have not changed for the better in that regard.

Anyhow I found the interview fascinating and I am glad I was right about Glen being gay way back when...and I am going to give his lube a try. It seems like a really good product and I hope you guys will check it out as well.

Oh and Glenn has grown into a really hot looking man as well...take a look at the video below and you will see what I mean!
